This isn’t that actual “BEFORE” because I forgot to take a picture of it… I get too impatient and want to get to the painting (even though it held real estate in my garage for 3 years, okay, the truth is, I just forgot, there I admitted it)!
I have been changing my house slowly over to more of a white, gray and more modern look. I have had a “Tuscan” style for about 8 years now and it has more than wore out its welcome!
This piece was given to us to get rid off because my husbands client did not want it anymore. After looking at it and realizing that it was from the mid century and would sell at an auction for up to $1000 I told him we are going to keep it. My McGyver (AKA My husband) said, “it’s ugly and doesn’t even match our furniture” and before he could say more, I raised my hand, pointed my finger and ssshh’d him. He knew what that meant (there was no way he was going to win that battle!), rolled his eyes at me and there it sat in our garage for over 3 years. I knew it was going into our home, I just didn’t know where at the time.
Well, 3 years later, here it is… a fresh coat of white paint (I can here cringers here), I know, it’s wood and never paint wood that is worth something but I look at it like this, it is worth something to me painted white because it fits perfectly in my new “girly” den/office. It houses all my craft items, wrapping goodies, papers and laminating supplies. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! It really has become the anchor piece the room needed. I’m still debating if I want to put blingy crystal knobs on it…
So when you look at a piece of furniture that isn’t your color don’t let that stop you from using or buying it. Remember, anything is paintable. That’s my motto and I’m sticking to it!
